2013 Day of Celebration Honoring Dr. King

Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre and Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center will celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through music, dance and excerpts from his speeches. The celebration will begin at noon on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St., Evanston. Admission is free and open to the public.


The afternoon promises to be inspiring, as well as entertaining, with Master of Ceremony Aubrey Marquez and these special guest artists: The Evanston Children’s Choir, Ajoite Drum & Percussion and the Glass Family Drummers, Christ Temple Praise Dancers and blues guitarist David Dupont.


Speakers include Alderman Delores A. Holmes, Rev. Kenneth Cherry, former Evanston Mayor Lorraine H. Morton, Mr. Byron Wilson and Mr. Paul Wilson. For more information, please call 847/448-8254.
