Open Communities will host a free, one-hour training session designed specifically to help condominium association members understand their rights and responsibilities under federal fair housing law.
Abdi Y. Maya, fair housing outreach coordinator from the Illinois Department of Human Rights, will lead this session.
Association leaders and members will leave the session equipped with the knowledge they need to avoid legal liability for housing discrimination—including unintentional discrimination—when handling resident issues. Participants will learn how to identify and properly address fair housing issues with both current and potential residents.
