for Hungarian Connection Concert

— The North Shore Retirement Hotel, in conjunction with the Evanston Symphony
Orchestra, will host Musical Insights, a free lecture program open to the public
on Friday, March 14, 2014 starting at 1:30 p.m.at the North Shore Retirement
Hotel, 1611 Chicago Avenue, Evanston.
The program
features a presentation by Lawrence Eckerling, Music Director of the ESO and David Ellis, the ESO’s General Manager, for
the upcoming concert on Sunday, March 16 at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall in
Evanston. Rising virtuoso pianist Gleb Ivanov will play excerpts from Liszt’s Totentanz as a preview of his complete
performance of the work at Sunday’s concert. The concert, titled Hungarian Connection, will also include Bartók’s Dance Suite and the Second Symphony of
Sibelius.

The North
Shore Retirement Hotel is the sponsor of this popular lecture/recital series. These programs discuss the upcoming concert
on the Friday afternoon prior to each ESO subscription concert. Maestro Eckerling uses recordings, DVDs, and
the piano to demonstrate musical ideas and themes.
The program
lasts about an hour and concludes with a question-and-answer session and free
refreshments.
