Sunday Oct. 6th 7pm dinner, 8pm show at 27 Live, Evanston (Evanston, Il--Sept. 16, 2013)--The highly successful staged film reading series,"Films For The Ear" returns to 27 Live, the new restaurant and performance venue located at 1012-1014 Church St. Evanston on Sun. Oct 6th for a staged reading of the iconic film, "Network". Dinner is available at 7pm with a special themed meal in relation to the film and the show begins at 8pm. Tickets are $50 for dinner and show, $20 for just show.Veteran comedy director Nate Herman (Second City, Saturday Night Live) is at the helm with many top Chicago theatre, improv and film talents and featuring two icons of television, ABC's Joel Daly and original MTV VJ, Alan Hunter.The film "Network" written by Paddy Chayefsky and directed by Sidney Lumet (1976)  is about a television network that cynically exploits a deranged former anchor's ravings and revelations about the news media for its own profit.New to downtown Evanston's scene, 27 Live is the city's newest hot spot, featuring a live events venue, bar, whiskey lounge, and restaurant fused together to create a 14,000 square foot all inclusive restaurant and nightlife location. 27 Live is located at 1012 Church Street in Evanston, just steps away from both the CTA Purple line and Metra Davis stops.  

 Bios:
Joel Daly co-anchored ABC 7's 4 p.m. newscast, alongside Linda Yu, until he retired in 2005. He now serves as a legal analyst for ABC 7 News.Daly joined ABC 7 Chicago in 1967. With his late co-anchor, Fahey Flynn, his unique reporting style pioneered the most-copied news format in the United States. In his 35 years as an anchor and reporter, Daly has covered major news events in the Philippines, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, in addition to local and national election coverage.Before he came to ABC 7, Daly sojourned in Cleveland, Ohio, at WJW-TV (1964-67) and at WEWS-TV (1960-64). His broadcasting career began in Idaho at the age of 17.Inducted into the Chicago Journalism Hall of Fame in 2003 as a "living legend," Daly has won five Chicago Emmy Awards, including a citation for nightly commentary, a citation for "highlighting the genuine humanity and humor in the day's happenings," and an award for excellence in writing. He received the Herman Kogan Award from the Chicago Bar Association and the NATAS Silver Circle Award. His commentaries were also honored with the 1973 Liberty Bell award from the Chicago Bar Association and the 1974 Human Relations award from the American Jewish Congress.In addition to his role as newscaster, Daly is active in music and theater. He appears yearly in the "Christmas Spirits" revue of the Chicago Bar Association, regularly performs a musical tribute to Roy Rogers with his new band, "Prairie Moon," and is part of a repertory company that regularly produces radio plays at the Museum of Broadcasting. He was critically lauded for his 1994 role as Atticus Finch in "To Kill a Mockingbird" at Chicago's Wisdom Bridge Theater. Alan C. Hunter (born February 14, 1957) was one of the original five video jockeys (VJs) on MTV from 1981 to 1987 (along with Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, Martha Quinn, and J.J. Jackson). He is a host on SiriusXM Radio’s The 80s on 8 channel and co-owns the production company Hunter Films with his brother Hugh. He and Hugh and two other brothers also founded WorkPlay, a multipurpose office, studio and entertainment facility in Birmingham, Alabama. He also hosted the reality show Looking for Stars on the Starz cable television channel as well as the Encore series “Big 80s Weekend”.
