Folk at the Madison presents the Jamie O'Reilly Trio-Chamber Folk
Vocalist Jamie O'Reilly appears with Michael Smith (songwriter/guitarist) and Peter Swenson (guitarist/arranger) accompanying her on some of their finest, most vibrant material: song-settings of poems arranged in their singular chamber-folk style. The selections highlight OReillys broad vocal range, complex, sophisticated guitar voicings and Smith's skill as a composer. Featured are the words of Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral, Bertold Brecht, F. Garcia Lorca and essayist Anne Carson to late Chicago poets David Hernandez and Patricia Monaghan. Settings of the words of the Shulamite women of Lebanon, ancient Irish and Chinese poets are among the selections.
