Grandmother Park Grand Opening
Everyone is invited to the Grand
Opening of Grandmother Park at 1125 Dewey Avenue. Come celebrate the opening of this brand new park
for toddlers and their caregivers with live music, refreshments and a
ribbon-cutting ceremony from 4 to 6PM on Friday, November 1.
It took four years of dedicated fundraising and planning to build a safely accessible park where families and children in this underserved neighborhood can meet, engage in healthy outdoor play, and create community.
Two grandmothers saw the need for such
a place to play out-of-doors and, quickly discovering that the City had no
money for parkland acquisition or development, decided to do it themselves! Grandmother Park Initiative was formed and the
not-for-profit raised the funds from friends, neighbors, foundations and
businesses. On November 1 their dream
will be a reality. Come celebrate!
