Muslim Journeys Kickoff: Arif Choudhury

Sunday, September 8, 2:30 pm, Evanston Levy Center, 300 Dodge Ave Evanston, IL

Come for the official kick-off of Muslim Journeys , a yearlong series of book discussions, films and other events exploring Muslim culture, history and faith. Funded by a grant from the American Library Association and the National Endowment for the Humanities, Evanston Public Library is one of 125 libraries nationwide selected to receive the Bridging Cultures bookshelf of 25 titles, and to offer "Let's Talk About It", 5 community book discussions led by local scholars on the theme, "Pathways of Faith". Copies of the books are available on the 2nd floor of the Main Library; call 847-448-8620 to register or for more information.

Our series begins with a community reception and program featuring Bangladeshi-American raconteur and humorist Arif Choudhury reflecting on his experiences growing up as a Muslim in the United States. For more information, check out the Muslim Journeys blog.
