Northbrook Nine: Memorial Day Parade

It’s
time to round up the kids and gather your friends to enjoy family-friendly fun
suburban style! These events are presented by volunteer community organizations
and their sponsors. Together, they proudly invite residents near and afar to
enjoy fantastic summer programming for families, friends and neighbors. “Northbrook Nine”, a series of nine
events occuring between April and October sponsored by volunteer community
organizations and their sponsors. These festive events include an Earth Day
celebration, Memorial Day, Block Party, Fourth of July Parade, Sidewalk Sale
with lots of savings, Art in the Park, Sundae in the Park, Shermerfest and the
beloved Northbrook Farmers Market!

 



Each
event is the perfect chance to get your family out of house and spend time
seeing everything that the Northbrook community has to offer –music, art,
shopping and an all around good time. The fun won’t break the bank either. The
cost to attend the Northbrook Nine events are all free!

“The
Northbrook Nine has become a recognized platform which brings the community
together,” says Mary Junkman, volunteer organizer of the Sidewalk Sale. “It is
a great cost savings, too!”

Save the date for the nine big events in Northbrook this summer:



 



1.   
EARTH DAY – Held by the Village of Northbrook. Saturday,
April 26. Have fun celebrating Earth and Arbor Day in Northbrook – Rain or
Shine! Clean up begins at 8:30 a.m. with registration at the Village Green, on
the corner of Shermer and Meadow.  From 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., the Northbrook
Village Green will be bustling with excitement as everyone enjoys the exhibits,
games, food and entertainment. 



2.   
MEMORIAL DAY PARADE – Held by American Legion Post No. 791.
Monday, May 26.  Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. from the corner of Cherry
& Western, east to Church and Shermer and continues on Shermer west to
Meadow.  Free Popsicles after the ceremony at the American Legion Post 791
on Shermer (while supplies last).



3.   
9th ANNUAL BLOCK PARTY @ ST. NORBERT
- Saturday, June 7. Northbrook at Walters & Meadow. The fun
begins at 8 a.m. with a Kid’s Fun Run & a 5K Run. Afternoon
festivities start at 3 p.m. Kid’s corner with games, inflatables, and
DJ. Live bands all day with the headliner at 8 p.m. Food & beverage
tent. Rain or Shine!



4.   
FOURTH OF JULY PARADE – Friday, July 4.
Come out and celebrate the 4th of July in a terrific downtown
celebration parade. 



5.   
SIDEWALK SALE – Held by the Northbrook Merchant Association. July
11&12.   Get your wagons out and walk
or bike downtown to find deals galore from your favorite local stores and
outside vendors at the Downtown Northbrook Sidewalk Sale-Friday and Saturday on
the corner of Church Street and Cherry Lane (near Sunset Foods). Balloon
artists, children’s activities, contests, food, and plenty of fun. On Saturday,
come hit the shopping early and then swing over to "Art in the Park"
to complete your day out.



6.   
ART IN THE PARK – Held by the Village of Northbrook. July 12&13. Two days of wonderful art from 70+ artists,
live music, good food, children's activities, silent auction and more all in
the beautiful Village Green Park.



7.   
SUNDAE IN THE PARK- Held by the Northbrook Historical Society. July 20 in Village Green.
Northbrook Historical Society celebrates its
40th year with a Sundae in the Park. 



8.   
SHERMERFEST – Held by the Northbrook
Historical Society. September
21 from 12-4 p.m. on Village Green. Take a step back in time at this
fun-filled community fall festival. Collectible and antique car show, children’s
activities, hot dogs, soup and homemade sweets.



9.   
NORTHBROOK FARMERS MARKET- Northbrook Farmers Merchant
Association. Every Wednesdays
beginning on June 18 to Oct. 8, 7 a.m. -1 p.m. Locally grown fresh fruits and
vegetables, artisan cheeses, bakery, knife sharpening, special
events & family fun at his local farmers market.



Without
