Discounted architecture tours honor anniversary of Great Chicago Fire

Shoreline commemorates the Great Fire of 1871 with special pricing on Architecture River Tours on October 8 and 9. All adult tickets will be $18.71 for those two days. Did Mrs. O’Leary’s cow really start the Great Fire by kicking over a lantern? Shoreline Architecture Guide Kevin Burrows notes it could have been a meteor shower that struck Illinois since four other fires also started in the state on that fateful October 8 date. While no one knows for certain how the fire started, it is a sure thing that patrons on Shoreline’s Architecture River Tour will be both educated and entertained about Chicago’s famous architecture and landmarks as well as the city’s rich history as they cruise the Chicago River. Tours depart from the Michigan Avenue Bridge and from Navy Pier.
