Tomate Fresh Kitchen Ribbon Cutting Celebration

The general public and media are

invited to join The Honorable Mayor
Tisdahl,
5th Ward
Alderman Delores Holmes, members of The Evanston Chamber of Commerce, Chamber Board
Directors, Ambassadors and staff
to celebrate the Ribbon Cutting of Tomate
Fresh Kitchen on Wednesday, November 20 from 2-3 pm.  The celebration will also include staff members
from the City of Evanston.  They will be serving complimentary Mexican hot
chocolate and chocolate spice cookies for friends/customers who want to stop
by. They are also planning to have a local Mariachi band outside!

What:   Tomate Fresh Kitchen Ribbon Cutting
Celebration
Where: 914 ½ Noyes
Street
When:  Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 2-3 pm.

Tania
Merlos-Ruiz started selling her home-made empanadas last year at Evanston's
indoor Winter Farmer and Artisan Food Market, and continued to sell them at the
outdoor Downtown Farmers Market over the summer. Her “contemporary Latin
flavors using the freshest local ingredients” were such a hit with customers
that she began getting more requests for catering. Opening a bricks-and-mortar
store where she could pursue her creative passion for cooking was “the next
logical step,” she says.

 Ruiz and her
family opened Tomate Fresh Kitchen on Noyes St. this October. The new
restaurant offers “gourmet street food” for carryout and delivery for lunch
through dinner. “I have so many ideas of what I want to do,” she says. “My
food is far from traditional. We’re going to be offering specials constantly to
bring in new and unique flavors.”

I’m
looking forward to sampling their South-of-the-border cuisine at their new
location just a few blocks from the Chamber offices,” noted Elaine Kemna-Irish,
Evanston Chamber Executive Director.

 Tomate Fresh Kitchen, 914
½ Noyes street is open Mon.-Thu.: from 10 am – 6 pm,
