YAMO tackles reality
shows…and everything else
YAMO, Evanston Township High School’s annual student revue,
opens Friday, October 11, for a seven-night run in the school’s Upstairs
Theater. Now in its 56th year, this student-run production involves
over 125 students as writers, directors, actors, singers, musicians, and stage
crew and always draws sell-out audiences.
This year’s laugh-fest, subtitled “Orange You Glad I Didn’t
Say YAMO?,” lampoons such weighty topics as reality shows (Supt. Witherspoon’s
Apprentice), Taylor Swift’s love life, and the (temporary) death of the Twinkie,
among other targets for humor.
Show dates are October 11, 12, 18, 19, 24, 25, and 26; all
performances begin at 7:30pm. Tickets at $12 are available through a variety of
outlets: online at ETHS’s web site or its theater site (www.ethstheatre.com), where you can
select your own seats; by phone through the ETHS Fine Arts Box Office number
(847-424-7848), or in person weekdays in the Fine Arts office from 3:30-4:30pm.
If you wait until show night, call in advance to check ticket availability
(847-424-7130). This show sells out fast!
The Upstairs Theater lobby is handicapped accessible by
elevator. Parking for YAMO is best in the school’s rear parking lot; enter off
of Lake or Church Sts.
