BEARS Game Turf Heated?

The Bears will be playing tonight (7:40 PM) in 16º F weather--well below freezing. And will the turf on Soldier Field be heated so that players will not be slammed into rock hard ground?  The answer is yes, the turf is heated up to a range of 53º to 58º. Forty miles of tubing lie 9 inches beneath the natural grass surface, and a combination of water and glycol is pumped through this pipe network.

Still, Jay Cutler has called this surface "one of the worst" in the league.

The wind gusts are expected to go up to 25 mph so fans can expect a chilly time. Warming stations will be supplied by management.

Good luck, Bears!
