Frost Is Coming Very Soon

Frost is scheduled to arrive tonight in the western suburbs and here by the lake it is expected to reach 32º F at 6 am Tuesday. This will devastate most tender annuals and herbs, such as coleus, begonias, geraniums, impatiens, zinnias and basil. Hardier annuals like pansies, snapdragons, alyssum and sweet peas should survive quite well.

Temperatures down to 28º F will arrive later in the week. Time to remove your annuals and clean up those beds. Mulch them with chopped up leaves for the winter. The frost will be on the pumpkin!
