Lawn Celebration At Art Center

One hundred fifty lawn candles were put in place and lit over the weekend at the Evanston Art Center to celebrate Evanston's anniversary and raise funds for the center. Various local businesses and people (incl City Manager Wally B.) paid $150 to sponsor a candle. Some fifty plus candles were sponsored, raising over $7500 for the Art Center.

The candles, made of construction tubes donated by Home Depot, were put up and part decorated by summer interns. Pictured are (l to r) Tess Stevens, Will Hertel, and Eileen Harris. The small electric lights will last through Wednesday.

It all seemed like a joint celebration: Evanston's anniversary and the saving of the park land the candles were on.
