Westminster Place Holiday Bazaar

Westminster Place of Presbyterian Homes will kick off the holiday season with its annual Holiday Bazaar from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011, in Elliott Hall, 3131 Simpson (Golf) St., Evanston, IL. Another entrance is available from Grant Street.

A beautiful handcrafted, two-story farmhouse-style dollhouse filled with miniature furniture and made by Geneva Place resident Irene Borgerson, will be raffled. A Dickens’ “Christmas Carol”-themed quilt will also be raffled.  A special collection of the famous Dayton’s holiday "Santabears," produced from 1985 through 2007, in their original bags with complete accessories, will be sold individually through silent auction. Each year the Dayton’s holiday "Santabear" had a new theme and costume. After more than 20 years, Santabears were discontinued after 2007.

Handcrafted items will be featured including hand dyed silk scarves, angels, snowmen, flower arrangements, potted plants, distinctive beaded jewelry, Christmas ornaments, knitted items and homemade soup mixes.  A bake sale is also scheduled.

Other holiday shopping opportunities include on-campus shops run by The Woman’s Board of Presbyterian Homes.  The Depot is home to treasures ranging from practical housewares to fine-quality art objects and antiques.  The Furniture Warehouse offers a wide variety of quality second-hand furniture. The Thrift Shop sells quality men’s and women’s second-hand clothing, footwear, and accessories, and the Book Nook will welcome shoppers interested in gently-used hard cover and paperback books, most for a dollar or less. Proceeds from these shops fund a wide range of projects supported by the Woman's Board at Presbyterian Homes, among which are the chaplain-intern program, the campus bus, and staff nursing scholarships.

Lunch will be available for $7.00 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Geneva Place Dining Room. Tours of the campus will also be available.
