What's the Best Preschool in Evanston?

You've got only one day left to vote for your favorite. Help inform your neighbors by weighing in on this week's Readers' Choice question.

When it comes to choosing who to care for and teach your little ones, you want to know that they're in good hands.

That's why we're asking readers to share your opinions on Evanston's preschools in this week's Readers' Choice article so that anyone looking for a school can read what those of you with experience have to say.

Please vote in the poll below, and even better, leave a review in our business directory of your favorite spots so that other parents can benefit from your wisdom when they're searching the site in the future.

We love the Y part day program. Convenient for drop off - parking lot, wide hallways, lockers for the kid's stuff. Great curriculm - play based plus appropriate academics (ie letters, numbers). Flexible schedule - choose 5 day, 3 day or 2 day from nine to noon and add lunch until 2:00 as desired month to month. Great staff and diverse population including many international students whose parents are here via NU. But what we love most about the Y is that the kids get to use the big gym and swimming pool at the big Y!

Please add Evanston Day Nursery to your list. http://evanstondaynursery.org/fulldaypreschool.html It is a small homelike environment in a residential neighborhood and has been serving Evanston for 100 years! Our children thrived there.

Just added it. Thanks for tip Kate!

I feel everyone of the schools you mentioned all have been around Evanston for a very long time and they all are excellent pre-schools. I am sure that everyone who sends their children to one of the schools thinks there child goes to the best pre-school. So, why should they be rated one against the other. They are all good schools or they all would not have been around for a long time.

This is totally a popularity contest... but, it's still nice to see the preschool we chose for our 2 year old to start in the Fall is doing well :) We really fell in love with School for Little Children.

Child care center of Evanston is THE BEST. Great child care providers and teachers. My son was so prepared for kindergarten
Karen March 23, 2012 at 04:13 AM
Next time, It might be more useful to readers to gather opinions on why a certain preschool is the best for their particular child/family. Each school has strengths, focuses, philosophies and no size fits all.
Emily Stone (Editor) March 23, 2012 at 01:39 PM
Hi Karen, We absolutely want to get that information on the site, and I agree that it would be very useful. That's why we're encouraging readers to click through on the name of their preferred school and write a full review. That way, when future readers come to the site they'll be able to read full, nuanced reports of the experiences people have had at the different schools. We also take those reviews into account in determining a winner. We know the poll on its own isn't the way to determine this, but we hope it sparks some good conversation on the site and in the reviews on individual listings so that parents can benefit from all of your insights.
