"I am endorsing Judy Fiske for 1st Ward alderman," Mayor Tisdahl said. "Judy works hard for the 1st Ward, and I can always count on her to be extremely well-informed no matter what we're discussing. She has shown real leadership on the City Council, working with me, the other aldermen and city staff to forge compromises and do what's right for the entire city." Mayor Tisdahl added: "And having an Evanston business owner on the council is a real plus."

Alderman Fiske said, "I am honored to have Mayor Tisdahl's support. For the last four years, she has witnessed first-hand how closely I collaborate with the City Council to do what's best for Evanston. And as a former alderman herself, Liz knows how hard I work to serve all my 1st Ward constituents."

Alderman Fiske continued: "Voters in the 1st Ward deserve an independent voice who is not beholden to special interests, and that's why my campaign does not accept the support of outsiders who are trying to influence our local politics. So Liz's endorsement means a lot to me because she shares my goal of doing what's best for the 1st Ward."

Alderman Fiske was elected 1st Ward Alderman in April 2009. She is co-owner of Fit + Frisky!, a retail pet supply store in downtown Evanston. Opened in April 2007, the store is a successful model for attracting locally owned businesses to the downtown.

Alderman Fiske has been an active participant in civic affairs here for more than two decades. She has served the community in many capacities, including president of the Preservation League of Evanston, trustee of the Evanston History Center, founding board member of the Northeast Evanston Historic District Association, treasurer of the Frances Willard Historical Association, founding member of Friends of The Georgian, member of the Kendall College Task Force, and appointee to the Police Services Advisory Board.

Alderman Fiske has written on and spoken frequently to community groups, statewide organizations, and the Evanston City Council about land use and zoning issues that affect the city's residential neighborhoods. From 1985 to 2005, she was a licensed Realtor in Chicago and the North Shore. Five generations of Judy's family have lived in Evanston and Wilmette.
