Are We Beaten Dogs?

Have we grown so used to this ridiculous wealth disparity between the financial geniuses that have brought us to the brink of destruction and the rest of us that we simply don't care anymore?

Reminds me of the experiment on the caged dog. The researchers would deliver an electric shock to one area of the cage, which the dog learned to avoid. Then they switched the shock to the spot where the dog sought refuge. Then they started delivering the shock randomly, so the dog could never avoid getting shocked, no matter what he did.

Soon, the dog would lie there, get shocked and not even bother to move to another part of the cage. Then, one day, they opened the door of the cage, and the dog just laid there, and didn't even bother to escape.
