Crystal Balls and elections, local and loco.

My weird premonition and webbots...a coincidence? Plus a word about corporate funding and a not-too-discerning voting public.

Hmmm.  I just listened to a radio interview with Clif High on Veritas Radio (online).  Clif is a quirky genius with a pretty darn good record when it comes to predicting future events through the use of a crawling spider software known as web-bot.  This however, only begins to describe his expansive knowledge and view of the universe.

Anyway, listening to this interview, I remember as I watched Obama and his family on TV the night he was elected.  Still all hopey and changey star struck, I cried tears of joy, along with everyone else...but then turned to my companion, Eric Lieberman, and said..."He's going to be a one-term president."  It was just one of those moments.  Don't know where the thought came from, it was just a momentary knowing.

So, what struck me in Clif's latest interview was his prediction that this election would deeply scar our faith in the electoral process itself, and that there would once again, be a period, after a seeming victory, of confusion which would find Obama stepping down, and Romney winning.  Not that we would ever really know the true vote count...more like... perhaps the Supreme Court would once again make the final call, as it did in 2000 when most Americans, too zoned out to care that our democracy had just been flushed down the toilet, changed the channel and popped open another beer.  (I wonder if they’ve even noticed that we’re now in a brave new world, rife with drones, state sponsored terrorism, surveillance up the wazoo, and executive orders which threaten to jail and throw away the key forever on anyone who dares to differ from officialdom.  (I refer here, of course, to Bush’s Patriot Act, and Obama’s National Defence Authorization Act, or NDAA.)

As you know, if you've read my former posts, I don't think it matters that much who the president is...as the powers that be are going to do what they will, and they pretty much install who they need to either fulfill one of their sickening self-serving scenarios or to keep us thinking we have a good guy we can trust running things.  If you think I'm kidding watch this short documentary about the CIA featuring testimony from five former agents: http://tinyurl.com/8retfd3

Anyway, maybe my premonition will come true.  Don't know.

I will say I have no premonitions regarding local races.  Here in the 18th district we have Eric Lieberman running against incumbent Robyn Gabel whose corporate contributors...well, scary, and I don't want to bore you with the details, but the list includes Monsanto and big pharmaceuticals along with a prominent giant international law firm that keeps whistleblowers from bringing down these monster pharma's when they cheat and lie to get their drugs into your body, and your (or, more frequently the taxer payers’) money into their pockets. The irony of this situation will be lost on most true blue Evanstonians...but to me, it's like knowing a really funny joke, but not knowing anyone who would take the time to hear it.

Democratic incumbent Gabel, who all these blue-bloods assume is "on our side," is getting gobs and gobs of money from the corporatocracy that's laughing all the way to the bank while you and your children stare into the abyss of a future devoid of anything we used to think of as an acceptable standard of living, while the Republican candidate, Eric Lieberman, will be assumed by you blue-bloods to be some kind of corporate creep.  This assumption has no basis in fact, as Eric has no corporate contributors.

In fact, he and I founded Evanston GMO Watch (egmow.org) and, in our quest to understand what the heck is going on, learned more than we wanted to know about Monsanto and their evil ways.

Even more unbelievable to me is that most “liberals” think they are fighting “free market” Republicans.  I would break out into outrageous laughter at this thought if it didn’t make me want to puke first.  Can’t tell you when we last had a free market, people…but I’m pretty sure it was approximately around the time I used a little key to make my roller skates grow along with my shoe size. Again, what we have is a corporatocracy which politicians, local and national and from both parties, are happy to accommodate, as long as the money keeps flowing into their pockets.  Do you think the Occupy 99% protests came out of nothing?  Where has all the wealth of our country gone?  What a shock…to psychopathic liars who are really, really good at not only skewing the numbers the government puts out to get you to think your financial future won’t be that bad, or that it might get better…but to the people (politicians) they hand pick, groom and buy to cover for them.  Sorry, no good news here.

Hey, I don't blame you if you can't get yourself to put a check next to a guy running on the republican ticket...(actually, I do blame you…because it’s about the person, not the party, and you, dear reader, are hopelessly stuck, so good luck!), but at least do me this favor.  Check out egmow.org, or Jeff Smith's work on the GMO issue.  Don't throw out the Non GMO shopping guide Eric is distributing to residents of the 18th district in the coming week.  Read it.  Get to know about Monsanto, and stop eating that stuff.  It's BAD S*#@!T!!!   So, please exercise your power to vote with your money, to vote with your awareness, to vote with your teeth.  Now, go forth and spread the word!
