Follow the money...er, well, debt trail...if you want to see the forest through the trees.

A silly blog about money, and a link to a serious blog about money, er...debt...no, money...no...???

The following essay, accompanied by helpful charts, is by Charles Hugh Smith.  I love to read about the world of finance, the economy, and money...because it's, in my opinion, so foundational to the world we live in now.

Money makes the world go 'round?

Not exactly.  I believe love, the all-encompassing omniscient force for which all religions have a name, symbol, or description...be it God, Allah, Ra...or the Great Spirit...does, indeed, make the world, indeed, the entire cosmos or materium, go 'round.

So why does money hold such fascination?  Well, because, money has a very checkered history, and a special place in the human psyche.  We all need it.  Well, almost all of us.  I believe a woman name the Peace Pilgrim never used it as she walked accross America spreading her message while hitching rides and sleeping in guest rooms, on couches or park benches.  I doubt Jesus needed it, in his final three years, at least.  Buddha?

We are being told, by and large, right now...by main stream media outlets, that we are entering a "sustainable recovery."  Housing seems to be rebounding, and, at least according to government statistics, employment is picking up.

I don't want to be a wet blanket, just a little tiny voice in the wilderness suggesting you look a little deeper.

Here's a good start, and I really hope this starts a lively discussion.  My last post skewing our military involvement in Mali doesn't even have one pititful comment on it, and Robert's post has 18...some of them mine!  I'm feeling very left out.

That's alright, I'll get over it.  My womens' writing group meets at my house tonight, and I'll soon be drowning in essays and poems to sooth a battered blogger's breast.

On to Charles...
