POSE "Taking Back the Streets" this weekend at Moonlight Studios Gallery

Bottled water company WAT-AAH! is bringing its “Taking Back the Streets” art campaign to Chicago this weekend at Moonlight Studios Gallery,1446 W. Kinzie St.  This innovative art campaign connects leading street artists with young, local artists to create a mural dubbed the # WATAAHWALL.

The eye-catching, sky-high mural is being created by veteran Chicago artist POSE and five art students from the University of Chicago’s Arts Incubator Design Apprenticeship Program (DAP).  You’ve probably seen POSE’s work before. The cool video shows how he and other artists created “legal graffiti” for Goorin Bros., a Chicago company. On the Known Gallery website, he is called “the city’s most internationally recognized graffiti artist.”

Launched in April 2013, the University of Chicago’s Arts Incubator’s Design Apprenticeship Program encourages community transformation by empowering youth to become stewards of their local community. The Chicago #WATAAHWALL project gives the young adults an opportunity to work with an internationally recognized artist on a community art project.  Visitors can stop by Moonlight Studios Gallery Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20th from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. to see the final product.

WAT-AAH! launched the Taking Back the Streets initiative in February 2014 in support of the Partnership for a Healthier America’s (PHA) “Drink Up” initiative, which encourages everyone to drink more water more often. At the first event in NYC at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, PHA’s honorary chair, First Lady Michelle Obama, visited the exhibit and was given a private tour by WAT-AAH!’s CEO and Founder, Rose Cameron.
