The Rose Warriors Fight Cancer At Evanston Relay For Life Event

Community event to raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer.

For the third season, The Rose Warriors were the top fundraising team at The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, held at Evanston Township High School on May 11-12.

With the help of family, friends, colleagues and the Evanston community; Evanston Relay For Life was a success.  Held overnight at the ETHS field house, student and community teams raised funds, walked the track and honored cancer survivors & caregivers and those who have lost their battle with cancer.

ETHS coral groups entertained the crowd after our survivor speaker, David Bell, told of his cancer journey and the success he has had regaining his health.  Survivors and caregivers were treated to dinner and cake prior to the event and the rest of the participants had water, snacks and midnight pizza provided- all through the generosity of our sponsors.  The constants were music, walking and bringing together members of the community, and their families, who have persevered through their cancer journeys.

Over $57,000 was raised, with The Rose Warriors bringing in $22,000.  Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, effort and money to take a stand against cancer and to help support The American Cancer Society as they assist families, sponsor important research and educate the community to achieve better health.

Special thanks to the Thomas family and my colleagues at Coldwell Banker-Evanston and Koenig & Strey-Evanston for their continued support.
