Northwestern Junior & President of Campus Kitchen President Sarah Suh awarded the Sodexo - STOP Hunger Award

Northwestern student is one of five students nationwide to win the Sodexo - STOP Hunger Award and Scholarship.

“Hunger is often overlooked when students identify issues in our community.”  Northwestern Student and Campus Kitchen outgoing President Sarah Suh recognizes the importance of the work that she, and the others that are part of the national Campus Kitchen project do.  “We try to meet the nutritional needs of as many people as possible in our community by using creative and sustainable methods.  I think that our efforts are making a big difference in our community, and I hope that our work will inspire others to join us in our efforts to completely eliminate hunger in the future.”  It is this motive and inspirational mentality that was a driving factor in Sarah Suh winning the Sodexo Stop Hunger Award and Scholarship.  Sarah was presented the award by Sodexo President and CEO George Chavel along with a $5,000 scholarship and a $5,000 grant in her name for the hunger relief organization of her choice.  In June, she will be flying to Washington DC where she will formally be presented with the award along with four additional winners.

Sarah, who is the President of Campus Kitchen here at Northwestern (CKNU), is part of the CKNU team that provides free meals to those in need. In her two and a half years working with CKNU, Sarah has volunteered more than 800 hours and helped serve roughly 17,000 meals.  Sarah is a junior, pre-med student who is majoring in biology and resides from Buffalo Grove, Illinois.  She plans on presenting the $5,000 grant in her name to the Campus Kitchen at Northwestern University.
