Longtime ETHS P.E. Teacher Dies at 89

Jeanne W. Hunter taught physical education at Evanston Township High School for 32 years before she retired in the mid 1980s. Visitation is scheduled for Oct. 31, with a funeral Nov. 1.

Jeanne W. Hunter of Evanston died on Friday, October 26, 2012 in Evanston Hospital. Mrs. Hunter was born November 1, 1922 in Henderson, KY to Elbert D. Walker and Mayble Roberts Walker.

Mrs. Hunter received a Bachelors degree from West Virginia State College in Physical Education. She retired from Evanston Township High School in the mid 1980’s after teaching physical education there for 32 years.

Mrs. Hunter is survived by her husband Alfred L. Hunter, Sr; sons Alfred L. Hunter, Jr. and James Craig (Rathenia) Hunter; grandchildren Capt. Edmund, USMC (Yuki) Hunter, Steven Hunter, Paul Aaron Theodore Hunter, Christina Joy Hunter, Janelle Nichole Hunter, Janette Kimberly Hunter, Trenton Hunter and Taylor Hunter; great grandchildren Edmund Hunter and Mina Hunter; niece Lynn Walker; nephews Erik Walker, Wayne Walker and Philip (Rebecca) Walker; great nieces Damaris (Airron) Walker-Richardson, Amanacer Walker, Brittney Walker, Diana Walker and Megan Walker (Joshua) Woodward; great nephewsHelios Walker, Aramis Walker, Jason (Emily) Walker and Brandon Coleman; great great nieces Mariah and Brooklyn Walker.

Visitation for Mrs. Hunter will take place on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd. at Old Orchard Rd. Skokie, IL 60077.

Burial will take place in Ahoskie, NC, time and date pending.
