The ETHS football program also will march to honor King and show support for his family during the city's Fourth of July parade. The following is from football coach Jacob Rohde from an e-mail sent out by the school's athletics department:

“Every year the Evanston Football program comes together as a group and marches in the city's 4th of July parade. On Friday we will come together as a family, in support of the King family and each other, as we celebrate the life of one of our most beloved coaches.

"All current and former ETHS Football players who were touched by the life of Steve King please join us on July 4th at 1:15 pm at Bent Park as we march the parade and remember a man who devoted his life to fostering the growth of our Evanston youth.

"Football is a fraternity that stretches beyond the playing field. In these times of need we provide support and guidance to our brothers. We prove that these family bonds stand the test of time and we show our young men still playing what being a part of the Evanston Football family means.

"Join us and celebrate the life of our mentor and share stories about how lucky we are to have experienced his leadership. Wear Orange and Blue or Maize and Blue and please invite all football players who you can think of who were inspired by Coach King."
