Obituary: Jeannien Ludwig, 81, Beauty Queen and Evanston Artist

A print and runway model, and later a painter and weaver, Ludwig lived in Evanston from 1961 to 1994 and was a member of the Evanston Art Center.

BIOGRAPHY

Jeannien Adelle Ludwig, formerly Grossman nee Gustavison , age 81 of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Peacefully passed away Christmas night, 2013. Born July 15, 1932 in Rockford, IL to the late Reuben and Frances Gustavison, she attended Rockford East. Former University of Illinois beauty queen and lifelong supporter of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, she was a print and runway model in Chicago in the 1950s. A talented painter and weaver with an eye for color and design. An Evanston Illinois resident from 1961 – 1994 and member of the Evanston Art Center. Beloved wife of the late George Ludwig and the late Henry George Grossman ; loving mother of Eric Grossman (Anne Riggs),Ellice (Lynn) Ratliff and Lance Grossman ; proud "Mama Gus" to her six grandchildren, Kate, Adam, Hank, Claire, Maggie and Zoe; dear sister of the late Reuberta Stoecklin and Gloria Crossland; fond "Aunt Nien" to her nephew and nieces, Timothy, Ellyn and Frances.
