Obituary: Local Chef Kevin Flynn, 49

Kevin Flynn was a New Trier grad who worked at Wilmette's Melange and at Northwestern University's Dyche Stadium and Allen Center. He died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2013.

Kevin Andrew Flynn passed away from complications of multiple sclerosis (MS) on Sunday, August 18. Kevin was the beloved husband of Leslie (née Brumbaugh); father of Frank and Patrick Flynn (sons of Krista Johnsen Flynn Burgeson); son of Barbara Flynn Waller (Stan) and the late Frank T. Flynn III; son-in-law of Doddie Brumbaugh (the late Robert Brumbaugh); brother of Mary Kathleen Flynn (John Quain) and Kristie Stein (Curt); uncle of Samantha Flynn Quain, Lauren McIlmurray and Bradley Stein; and nephew of Barbara Flynn Currie (the late David Currie); Michael Flynn (Mary), Patricia Evans (John), Terence Flynn (Regina), Carol Simpson Stern (J.A.) and the late Rupert Simpson (Laura Wenke). He was the cherished cousin and friend of many.

Born on November 16, 1963, Kevin graduated from New Trier High School (East) and Kendall College, where he studied Culinary Arts. He worked at several Chicago area restaurants including Wilmette’s Melange and served as the executive chef at Northwestern University's Dyche Stadium and as the sous chef at the Allen Center. He loved music, especially Chicago Blues. He was a Son of the Wilmette American Legion Post 46. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
