What follows is a letter from District 65 Supt. Hardy Murphy, sent to the district's e-mail list:
Dear District 65 Families:
Parent - teacher conferences for all families will be held the week of October 15th. Information about dates and times can be found at your school's website. You may access your school's website by selecting the School tab on the main page of the District 65 website at www.district65.net. Please note that Friday, October 19th is a non-attendance day for students.
The importance of building strong relationships with teachers in order to gain a greater understanding of your child's academic, social, and emotional development cannot be understated. The fall conferences present an opportunity to build relationships with teachers and set goals for students. Conferences also offer parents and teachers the opportunity to share their perceptions concerning the growth and academic achievement of students. A parent's unique perspective is important to the parent-teacher conferences. So, too, is the perspective of the classroom teachers. In this process of working together, strengths as well as areas for improvement can be identified which will help to ensure that your child completes the school year successfully.
Building collaborative relationships between staff and families is a valuable stepping stone to obtaining success for all. I hope that the information shared at your conferences is useful. If you need more information about conferences, please contact your child's school.
Hardy Murphy, Ph.D.
Superintendent of Schools
