What Should Patch Be Covering?

Patch opinion columnist Christine Wolf asks readers for their opinion this time around. So please step up and share your thoughts on what local issues you want to see covered. We're all ears!

The greatest aspect of having an opinion column in Evanston is never running out of material.

In the fifteen years I've lived here, I've gotten to know educators, artists, musicians, politicians, scholars, retauranteurs, entrepreneurs, activists, actors, and athletes. I've met people finding their way and forging new paths, and I'm never at a loss to find a new friend in this town. I've been introduced to inspiring kids (and some I'd like to throttle). One of my biggest regrets about living in Evanston in not having enough time in the day to take advantage of every festival, gallery opening, and business in town. Not a bad problem to have.

Still, I'd like to hear from YOU.

While it's easy for me to write a column about my take on things, I'm always inspired to hear what readers are most interested in.

What do you want to know more about?

Who's an intriguing Evanstonian you'd like to hear from?

What's been on your mind lately?

Share your opinion in the comments section or feel free to email me directly. I can't wait to hear YOUR opinions.

Here's a thought . . .when I worked for Borders (ten years part-time) we spent a lot of time serving the senior population in Evanston, which is very large. Downtown Evanston has several "retirement" homes for senior living, and those folks use our downtown stores, restaurants, the library, and city services to a high degree that most people. They know things. They have been around the block a couple of times, so to speak, they have watched waves of changes, and they spend their money wisely. However, they are not on computers and this isn't going to change much. They are not hard to find, and easy to talk to. Lunch time at the North Shore Hotel and the Mather, the King Home and the Levy Center is packed with the most interesting people you will ever meet. And the lunch is pretty good, too. These folks have built the Evanston we enjoy, it would be nice to hear from them more.

Love the suggestion, Candace! We'll try to find a way to incorporate some of these folks on the site.
