Pick Your Perfect Pizza Pie

Evanston dishes up plenty of choices.

Looks like Chicago Avenue deserves a new nickname: Pizza Row.

As a pizza aficionado, I’m thrilled to know we’ve got so many pizza places to choose from.

My hands down favorite is Union Pizzeria for its fresh, creative toppings – not to mention the fact that I don’t hate myself after eating the light, wood-fired crust -- but when I feel like changing it up a little, the pizza choices in Evanston are too plentiful to detail in one article.

On Chicago Avenue between Church Greenleaf, you’ll find Dave’s Italian Kitchen, Gio, Giordano’s, Homemade Pizza Company, Union Pizzeria and the relocated Carmen’s (coming soon).

Venture away from Chicago Avenue and you’ll find pizza just about everywhere, from Central Street’s Homemade Pizza Company, to Papa John’s, Lou Malnati’s and Trattoria D.O.C.

We no longer have a Domino's in Evanston. We used to have one on Howard Street near Ridge Avenue, but it's now closed. Does this bother anyone? Wilmette has a Domino's, and they're not even a college town.

Whether you trace pizza's origins to Greece or Italy, I think it's fair to conclude that Evanston's got the corner on options.
