"Why Not Me. Love, Cancer and Jack White" Supports NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center with Dedicated Fundraising Performances

Back by popular demand, “Why Not Me. Love, Cancer and Jack White,” an original, one-woman show by Jen Bosworth, returns this summer to The Heartland Studio Space at Boho Theatre in Rogers Park (7016 N Glenwood Avenue, Chicago, IL). In celebration of the show’s revival, Bosworth is hosting three benefit performances on Friday, July 25; Saturday, August 2; and Sunday, August 17. A portion of proceeds from these dedicated performances will benefit NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) Kellogg Cancer Center, an organization which plays a meaningful role in Bosworth’s story.

Based on Bosworth’s real-life experiences, “Why Not Me. Love, Cancer and Jack White” chronicles her gaffes and tribulations while living in Los Angeles as a struggling actress and her return home to Chicago where sickness and cancer engulf her life. While dealing with illness, death, grief and love, Bosworth finds solace in her nightly dreams of Jack White of the band The White Stripes. This powerful performance is an uplifting story of one woman’s courageous romp through life’s heartaches, headaches and hysterics.

An Evanston native, Bosworth is pleased to donate a portion of proceeds from the dedicated performances to NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center—where her mother was treated. Funds raised through these dedicated performances will support the innovative cancer care and leading-edge breast cancer research at NorthShore.

“’Why Not Me’ is a statement, not a question,” said Bosworth. “I learned the hard way that life is tough…so live it bravely and go for it; that’s the essence of ‘Why Not Me’.”
