Evanston Mom on the Edge of Sustainability

Join a Community and Make a Difference

Tasha, an Evanston mom, is confronting multiple struggles. A survivor of domestic abuse and recipient of area leading social service supports, she is currently residing in the only safe shelter that has space for her and her two children in Tinley Park at 187th Street.

Tasha must commute from there to Evanston for her job at Northwestern, infant childcare at Childcare Network of Evanston, and her son’s school. Taking two buses and the Metra means that she has little control over timing and is often late to work. Tasha’s immediate need is car repairs so she can commute efficiently. Next steps for Tasha include finding permanent housing and getting her GED.
