2 Shot Overnight in Evanston, 1 Fatally

The shootings happened within a block of each other about three hours apart.

Two men were shot in Evanston early Saturday morning, one fatally, according to Evanston police.

The first shooting happened around 12:45 a.m. in the 1900 block of Brown Avenue. A patrol officer heard several shots, which were followed by several calls to 911, police said. The officer found a vehicle, which had rolled into a tree with a man behind the steering wheel who had been shot multiple times. There was no one else in the vehicle.

The victim has been identified as Albert E. Norman, 22, of the 1700 block of Grey Avenue in Evanston. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead on arrival, police said. Evanston police as well as the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force are investigating.

While officers were still at that crime scene, they heard more shots around 3:30 a.m., which were followed by 911 calls.

Officers then found a 50-year-old man who was standing in front of a home in the 1900 block of Dodge Avenue who had been shot multiple times in the leg, police said.

He was taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital where he is in stable condition.

Police are investigating whether the two shootings are related. There are no suspects in custody.
