Evanston police arrested two teenagers in connection with the theft of a cell phone on the CTA purple line in June.
Officers charged a 16-year-old and 14-year-old with the robbery, alleging the teens "forcibly took" a cell phone from a woman at the South Boulevard "El" stop at 2:45 p.m. on June 19, 2012, according to a press release from the Evanston Police Department.
Evanston police used surveillance photographs from the station and worked with CTA police and Chicago police to identify the alleged robbers, according to the release. Both from Chicago, the teens were charged with strong-armed robbery, a class 2 felony. The 16-year-old was also charged with obstruction of justice, police said.
