A nine-month investigation by Evanston police into a Craigslist ad soliciting sex has led to charges against four men in their 40s and 50s for criminal sexual abuse of a 14-year-old boy.

The boy’s parents cooperated with police after police in August discovered an ad from the victim soliciting sex, Evanston police said in a news release. Police recovered email messages, computer records and cell phone billing information that linked the boy to the men who responded to his ad, police said.

All four of the men are on bond awaiting further court dates.

Below is the information on the men, according to the Evanston Police Department.

Jonathan Labe, 54, of Evanston, was arrested on Jan. 24 on charges of:

  • Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse – Class 2 Felony
  • Indecent Solicitation of a Child – Class 3 Felony
  • Solicitation to Meet a Minor – Class 4 Felony
  • Patronizing a Minor Engaged in Prostitution – Class 3 Felony
  • Endangering the Life or Health of a Child – (3) Counts – Class A Misdemeanor
  • Contributing to the Criminal Delinquency of a Minor – (2) Counts – Class A Misdemeanor

Vaselin K. Minev, 43, of Morton Grove, was arrested on Feb. 25 on charges of:

  • Solicitation to Meet a Minor – Class 4 Felony
  • Patronizing a Minor Engaged in Prostitution – Class 3 Felony
  • Traveling to Meet a Minor – Class 3 Felony

Alejandro Costilla, 43, of Chicago, was arrested on March 3 on charges of:

  • Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse – Class 2 Felony
  • Patronizing a Minor Engaged in Prostitution – Class 3 Felony

Glenn A. Lapidus, age 46, of Chicago, was arrested on April 25 on charges of:

Lapidus is a former IBM executive who is now an executive at Merkle, another tech firm, according to an article in the Chicago Tribune. Prosecutors said he paid the 14-year-old $25 for a sex act in an Evanston parking garage.

Labe worked at the Tribune as an online producer in the early 2000s, according to another Tribune article, which said Labe paid for a taxi to bring the boy to his home and then engaged in a sex act.

Unfortunate that the investigation took 9 months to wrangle these gents. A lot more damage may be in their wake. Predators soon to become prey. Enjoy

I don't know where to begin.....if that was my 14 year old son....well let me say, have you ever seen Law Abiding Citizen? That's why I say, build more prisons, staff them with angry guards and throw away the key for vermin like this.
