Catch a Light Installation at Northwestern
5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, and Friday, Jan. 17, at Deering Library, 1935 Sheridan Rd., Evanston
During five of the darkest nights of winter, Italian artist Marco Rotelli's light installation illuminates Northwestern's Deering Library. While the installation is going on, Northwestern acting professors and students will read from winter-related poetry and plays inside the library, followed by hot chocolate and popcorn.

Sample a Six-Course Menu at Oceanique's 25th Anniversary Wine Dinner

6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Oceanique, 505 Main St., Evanston
The restaurant hosts a wine dinner to celebrate its 25th anniversary, which pairs wines with six different courses including roasted Maine Pemaquid oysters and wild Florida cobia with chanterelles in a port-pinot noir sauce. $85 per person.

See Luck of the Irish at Next Theatre
Jan. 16 through Feb. 23 at Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St., Evanston
The production tells the story of an African-American couple who pays a struggling Irish family to "ghost-buy" a house in an all white neighborhood of 1950s Boston. Tickets are $30 to $40 for adults, $15 to $20 for young adults and $7 student rush. They are available online or by calling the box office at 847-475-1875 x2.

Support Employees Affected By the Davis Street Fire
8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at 27 Live, 1012-1014 Church St., Evanston
Local concert venue and restaurant 27 Live hosts a benefit for employees who lost their jobs due to the fire that destroyed three businesses on Davis Street Dec. 28. Three bands will perform, and Lulu's and Taco Diablo will provide food. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased as a donation online. 

Celebrate Evanston Youth, Promote Non-Violence
11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Ave., Evanston
Youth Organizations Umbrella hosts the eighth annual Diverse Evanston Walks United, featuring songs, choreography, dramatic performances and visual art pieces created by Evanston students. There will be a free lunch following the performances.
