A Stolen Dog and a Garage Sale Deal Gone Very Bad

A look at unusual crimes in our Patch region this week.

Local police departments provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt.

A man stole a black and tan Cocker Spaniel from an Evanston home. 

An 18 year old was seen walking out of a Northbrook garage with food from a refrigerator that was in the garage. The homeowner detained him until police arrived, who say the suspect was also riding a stolen bicycle.

A Wilmette woman told police that she was pushed by a woman who had sold her crystal glasses at a garage sale about three weeks earlier. The seller told the resident she had sold the 14 crystal glasses by mistake. The resident says the seller pushed her when the seller came to the victim’s house to get the crystal glasses back. 

An inflatable pool was slashed at a Des Plaines home.

A large amount of grass clippings and small tree branches were found in a Wilmette hot tub. The damage is estimated at $200.
