Evanston firefighters extinguished an air conditioner that caught fire Monday afternoon in the 600 block of Sheridan Square.

Evanston firefighters extinguished an air conditioner that burst into flames on the second floor of a three-story apartment building Monday afternoon.

No one was injured in the fire, which broke out at 642 Sheridan Square around 5:53 p.m. Monday, June 3, according to a press release from the fire department.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blazing air conditioner before the fire could spread into the second or third floors with minimal damage, the release said. Families on the second and first floor will be displaced by the fire, however.
