Man Thrown to the Ground in Robbery Near Dempster Street El

Strong armed robbery

Police responded to a strong armed robbery at the intersection of Sherman and Greenwood avenues on March 17 around 9 a.m. According to the report, the victim was thrown to the ground, punched and held down while a second offender went through his pockets.

The man reported his wallet, along with its contents, missing. No further information was provided.

Teen nabbed for breaking into auto

A 17-year-old Evanston male was charged with burglary to motor vehicle on March 17. The teen was arrested in the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue around 7:34 p.m., police said.

Diamond ring stolen from home

An antique diamond ring, three gold wedding bands and a set of gold earning were reported stolen from a home in the 2700 block of Woodland Road on March 17.

DUI

Richard James Bryne, 57, of Evanston, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on March 15. Bryne was arrested in the 1000 block of Chicago Avenue around 10:30 p.m.

Theft from auto

A car parked in the 600 block of Custer Avenue was reported burglarized on March 19. Stolen from the vehicle was a cell phone charger and sunglasses.

Vehicle vandalism

A vehicle owner reported that an unknown person(s) shattered the rear window of his or her vehicle on March 17.

Stolen bike

A bicycle valued at more than $500 was reported stolen from a residential yard in the 1800 block of Lyons Street on March 17.
