Attempted Burglaries Reported On Dobson, Sherman

The following information was reported by the Evanston Police Department on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013. Where arrests are included, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:

Arrests: DUI, Aggravated Assault

Angelo James Hamilton, 50, of the 9700 block of Sumac in Des Plaines, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence Monday, Aug. 19, in the 7900 block of McCormick Boulevard, police reported.

Alija Maljevic, 38, of the 300 block of Custer in Evanston, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at her home, according to police.

Owen John Thomas, 40, of the 2500 block of West 70th Street in Chicago, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault at 7:40 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, in the 500 block of Howard Street, police reported.

Attempted Burglaries On Dobson, Sherman

A witness saw a man trying to pry open the screen of an apartment in the 1400 block of Dobson Street at 7:03 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, according to police.

The door to a home in the 900 block of Sherman Avenue was damaged between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, police reported.

Car Burglar Steals Wallet On Emerson

Someone stole a black wallet from an unlocked 2010 Subaru parked at Emerson Street and Brown Avenue between 2 and 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, according to police.

Burglar Ransacks Car On Highland

Someone ransacked a 2007 Honda parked in the 2700 block of Highland Avenue between 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, and 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, according to police.

Bikes Stolen On Darrow, Foster, Church, Emerson

Someone stole a 26-inch, 7-speed men’s Next bicycle with full suspension that was locked to a storage rack at Church Street and Chicago Avenue between Aug. 13 and 14, according to police.

Someone stole a silver and black 16-inch Sun Tour Tektro bicycle that was locked up in an apartment or condo common area in the 700 block of Foster Street between 12 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, and 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, police reported.

Someone entered the unlocked window of a porch in the 1800 block of Emerson Street and stole a BMX performance bicycle, blue Turin mountain bike and purple children’s mountain bike between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, according to police.

Someone stole an unlocked, 26-inch Trek girl’s bicycle from the sidewalk in the 1200 block of Darrow Avenue at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, police reported.

Someone stole a 27-inch Giant bike with a black rack on the back that was left unlocked on the sidewalk in the 1800 block of Darrow Avenue between 9:48 and 9:55 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, according to police.

Wallet Stolen On Ashland

A man stole a wallet that was left unattended in the 2000 block of Ashland Avenue between 4:30 and 4:50 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, according to police.

Known Offender Steals Check

A known female offender stole a personal check from a home in the 900 block of Brown Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, according to police.

Tires Slashed On Callan

Someone slashed the tires of a 2003 Honda parked in the 600 block of Callan between 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, and 7:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, police reported.

Criminal Damage to Property

Someone broke a fence post in a park in the 2600 block of Sheridan Road between 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, and 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, police reported.

Graffiti Appears on Michigan, Central

Graffiti appeared at Michigan and Hamilton at 10:01 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, police reported.  

Graffiti appeared on an apartment in the 2100 block of Central Street around 3:23 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, according to police.
