UPDATED: Bank of America on Chicago Ave. Robbed

The robbery occurred at around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The Bank of America on Chicago Avenue was robbed Wednesday afternoon, and the alleged robber and getaway driver were arrested, according to an alert from the FBI.

The Evanston Police said that a "black male in his forties, wearing a stocking cap, white button down shirt and dark pants approached a bank teller at her window."

The man handed the teller a note demanding money. She complied, giving him an undetermined amount which the man put in his pant pocket, police said.

"Responding detectives ascertained an excellent description of the offender and possible direction of travel, which was communicated to all area police departments. This information resulted in Evanston police receiving information about a suspect vehicle entering Chicago," police said.

Evanston and Chicago police departments coordinated efforts and stopped the suspect on the 8000 block of Yates in Chicago.

Police said officers on the scene recovered the money from the bank and a fake handgun. The names of the two suspects have not yet been released.
