A 43-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged with the burglary of a Howard Street beauty shop, police say. The man was recently released on parole for another burglary.

Police arrested a 43-year-old Evanston man and charged him with burglary after he admitted to a Howard Street burglary caught on videotape, according to a press release from the police department.

Officers arrested Andre D. Shearer, of the 200 block of Custer Street, after they responded to a call about a disturbance in the 1100 block of Sheridan Road at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, March 7. Police said they found Shearer there threatening to hurt another man if he didn’t give Shearer money. They took Shearer into custody and charged him with assault and disorderly conduct.

While in custody, police detectives discovered that Shearer matched the description of a burglary suspect caught on videotape in the 700 block of Howard St. on Feb. 17, according to police. Shearer admitted to the crime, and he was charged with one count of burglary, police said.
