Bicyclist, 15, Struck By Car On Church Street

Police are investigating an accident that took place early Wednesday morning in the 2200 block of Church Street.

A 15-year-old boy was hit by a car while he was riding his bike near Church Street and Hartrey Avenue around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to police.

The boy was on his way toward summer school at , riding east on Church Street against the flow of traffic in the westbound curb lane when he was struck, according to a press release from Cmdr. Jason Parrott. He turned in front of a car heading west, and the car then ran into him. 

Paramedics transported the boy to St. Francis Hospital for injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening. Parrott said that police do not expect to issue any citations to the driver.
