A man threatened to punch someone at 3:18 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, in the 900 block of Washington Street, police reported. 

Sewing Machine, Art Collection, Tiffany’s Jewelry Stolen in Burglaries

Someone stole a three-page letter, two wine glasses, a sewing machine and a collection of personal paintings from an apartment in the 1100 block of Hull Terrace between 2:09 and 4:09 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, police reported. 

Someone stole a silver Tiffany’s necklace, a crystal vase and white teacup with purple flowers from an apartment in the 700 block of Michigan Avenue between 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 27, and 3:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, according to police. 

Bikes Stolen on South, Reba, Central

Someone stole a black and red ten-speed Giant road bicycle that was locked to a storage rack in the 600 block of South Boulevard between 5 and 5:50 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, police reported. 

Someone stole silver and purple Magnum mountain bicycle that was missing its peddles and a Giant bicycle with a bike clock on the handlebars that were left unlocked in the yard of a home in the 700 block of Reba Place between 7:45 and 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, police reported. 

Someone stole an Orange Trek bicycle with a black rack on the back from an unlocked garage in the 700 block of Central Street between 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, and 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, according to police. 

Man Steals Sandwiches, Chicken Salad

A man stole five sandwiches and one container of chicken salad from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue around 9:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, police reported. 

Thief Steals Check Book From Sherman Avenue Business

Someone stole a checkbook from the office of a business in the 1500 block of Sherman Street between 1 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, and 12 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, police reported. 

Man Swipes Hair Straighteners From Salon

A man stole hair straighteners from a beauty shop in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue at 12:35 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, police reported. 

Burglary From a Motor Vehicle

Someone stole cash and a GPS unit from an unlocked 1997 Toyota and 2002 Volkswagen parked in the 2100 block of Grey Avenue at 2:59 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, according to police. 

Criminal Damage to Property

Someone damaged the front door window of an apartment in the 800 block of Florence Avenue between 1:47 and 2:47 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, police reported. 

Man Arrested For Obstructing Police

Michael A. Chinn, 40, of the 1700 block of Darrow Avenue in Evanston, was arrested and charged with obstructing police in the 1700 block of Darrow Avenue at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, according to police. 

Man Arrested For Trespassing

Eric Wilson, 51, of the 3300 block of Charlemagne in Hazel Crest, was arrested and charged with trespassing in the 1900 block of Hartrey Avenue at 5:38 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, according to police.
