Blotter: Shots Fired, Stolen Baby Carriage and Traffic Cones Taken

The following information was supplied by the Evanston Police Department on Monday, July 30. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Battery

A victim reported being pushed in the chest by a female subject who was 5 feet 6 inches tall and 184 pounds in the 1200 block of Forest Avenue on July 27. 

A police officer was the victim of battery from a male subject who was 5 feet 8 inches tall and 210 pounds in the 1400 block of Pitner Avenue July 27.

Burglary from a Motor Vehicle

An Apple laptop computer and a Pioneer in-dash television car stereo were stolen from a 1992 BMW parked on the street in the 200 block of Custer Avenue between midnight and 2:45 p.m. July 27.

Burglary of Vehicle Parts/Accessories

A black Nitro flip down screen television was stolen from a 2005 Dodge parked in an alley in the 700 block of Dobson Street.  The theft occurred sometime between 11 p.m. July 27 and 11:15 a.m. July 28.   

Criminal Damage to Property

The front door of a single family residence was damaged by an unknown offender in the 1100 block of Leonard Place sometime between 11:10 a.m. July 27 and 1:10 p.m. July 29. 

Criminal Damage to Vehicles

An unknown individual(s) spray-painted a 2006 Jeep parked on the street in the 1900 block of Howard Street.  The damage reportedly occurred between 10:30 p.m. July 27 at and 3 p.m. July 28. 

An unknown individual(s) spray-painted a 1998 Cheverolet parked on the street in the 1900 block of Howard Street. The damage reportedly occurred between 10:30 p.m. July 27 and 3:30 p.m. July 28. 

An unknown suspect(s) damaged the winshield of a 2006 Toyota parked in the 800 block of Dodge Avenue. The incident reportedly occurred on July 29 between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. 

Residential Burglaries

A black and red mountain bike, two red and black gas-powered lawn mowers, and garden equipment was stolen from a garage in the 2000 block of Brummel Street sometime between July 25 and July 29. 

A Mac Book 15-inch screen on the Mac Book Pro laptop computer was stolen from an apartment in the 900 block of Elmwood Avenue between 9 a.m. July 28 and noon July 29. 

A Garmin GPS was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in a garage in the 2000 block of Isabella Street between 11 p.m. July 26 and 8 a.m. July 27. 

A large number of items were stolen from an apartment in the 100 block of Callan Avenue July 29. The items taken include: an Air Force Academy ring, Gold Bainbridge High School class ring, a gold bracelet, gold and pearl ring, solitaire diamond ring, gold necklace with a cross pendant, vintage metal clip-on earrings and a Samsung flat screen television. The incident occurred July 29 and a black male, who stands 5 foot 10 inches tall was identified by the victim as the assailant. Damage was identified at the rear door entrance. 

Retail Theft

Undisclosed amounts of alcohol and liquor were stolen from a grocery store in the 2700 block of Hartrey at 11:05 p.m. July 28. The suspect is described as a white male who is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. 

Shots Fired/Man with a Gun

A report of a shots being fired at Darrow and Lyons was received by police at 1:35 a.m. July 28. The subjects were described as two black males; one 5 feet 9 inches tall weighing 170 pounds and the other 6 feet tall weighing 200 pounds. Officers checked the area and found nothing. 

A report of shots being fired at Darrow and Foster was received by police at 10:25 p.m. July 28. No description of the subject(s) was given and police checked the area and found nothing. 

A report of shots being fired in the 1900 block of Grey Avenue was received by police at 9:34 p.m. July 29. No description of the subject(s) was given and police checked the area and found nothing. 

Theft Under $500

Two orange traffic cones were stolen from a general use parking lot in the 2400 block of Howard Street sometime between noon and 1:30 p.m. July 29.   

A bed frame, headboard and box spring were stolen from an apartment strorage locker in the 1300 block of Oak Avenue sometime between 5 p.m. July 22 and 6:45 p.m. July 28. 

Theft Over $500

An antique baby carriage was stolen from a porch at a single family residence in th 900 block of Ridge Avenue sometime between 9 a.m. July 22 and 9 a.m. July 28.
