Blotter: Cocker Spaniel Stolen, Cell Phone Nabbed From Napper

Battery on Church Street

Two known offenders allegedly battered their victim at 10:20 p.m. Friday, July 20, in the 1800 block of Church Street, according to police. 

Cocker Spaniel Reported Stolen

A man stole a black and tan Cocker Spaniel from a home in the 1400 block of Pitner Avenue between 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14, and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, according to police. 

Residential Burglaries on Fowler, Garnett

Someone pried open the garage of a home in the 1600 block of Fowler Street between 10 and 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, according to police. Nothing was reported stolen. 

Someone stole an Apple laptop computer and charger, a gold heart-shaped locket, a gold ring with a green stone and several other pieces of jewelry from an unlocked apartment in the 1100 block of Garnett Place between 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, and 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, police reported. 

Burglary From a Motor Vehicle

Someone entered an unlocked 1994 Saturn parked in the 200 block of Grey Avenue between 1 a.m. Friday, July 20, and 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, according to police. Nothing was reported stolen. 

A man stole a wallet including its contents and a Wells Fargo checkbook from an unlocked vehicle parked in an alley in the 2000 block of Brummel Street between 9:30 and 9:55 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, according to police.

Wallet Stolen at the Grocery Store

Someone stole a leather wallet and its contents from a purse at a grocery store in the 2400 block of Main Street between 1:45 and 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, police reported. 

Cellphone Swiped From Napper at Library

Someone stole an AT&T cell phone with a slide keyboard from someone who was sleeping at the Evanston Public Library between 3:30 and 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, according to police. 

Employee Involved in Theft

A woman stole $50 in cash and a check or money order from a business in the 800 block of Davis Street between 9 a.m. Thursday, July 19, and 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, according to police. Police reported that an employee of the business was involved in the theft. 

Retail Theft

Gerald Carl Richardson, 30, of the 700 block of Reba Place in Evanston, was arrested and charged with retail theft after he allegedly stole food from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue at 9:33 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, police reported. 

Possession of a Controlled Substance

Robert Ion Crianga, of the 4300 block of Madison Street in Skokie, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance at 1:41 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, in the 700 block of Howard Street, according to police.

Criminal Damage to a Vehicle

Someone scratched the driver’s side door of a 2002 Dodge parked in the 900 blcok of Dobson Street between 11 p.m. Thursday, July 19, and 7 a.m. Friday, July 20, according to police. 

Arson on Colfax Street

Police observed that playground equipment had been burned on the school grounds in the 2600 block of Colfax Street at 9:41 p.m. Monday, July 23.
