The following information was supplied by the Evanston Police Department on Monday, July 8, 2013.

Shots fired

Police received a report of shots fired near the intersection of Pitner and Crain at 3:16 a.m. July 6. The area was checked and nothing was found related to the incident.

Police received a report of a man with a gun on the sidewalk in the 1800 block of Hovland Court at 4:45 p.m. on July 3. The area was checked. No arrests were made.

Unlawful use of a weapon

Jamal Michael Dumas, 17, of Chicago, was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon on July 3.

Stolen cat

A woman told police that she believes her previous pet sitter stole her cat from an apartment in the 2500 block of Prairie Avenue.

Sexual assault

A woman reported that she was assaulted by her taxi driver in the 2200 block of Howard Street around 5 p.m. on July 7. Evanston Patch contacted the police Monday afternoon, who said they were not releasing more information at this time.

Theft

Jewelry, including a diamond wedding band, house keys and car keys were stolen from a home in the 2000 block of Church Street between 1:45 and 2 a.m. on July 3.

An unknown person stole money out of the cash drawer at a business in the 2200 block of Oakton sometime between July 3 and July 5.

An unknown person stole a wallet from inside a purse that was in a shopping cart in a grocery store in the 2400 block of Howard Street at 2:30 p.m. on July 2

Someone stole a 10-speed Schwinn road bike with white lettering from the yard of a home in the 1000 block of Sherman Avenue.

Someone stole a locked Sparta bicycle with black lettering off a storage rack in the 1600 block of Benson between 6:30 and 11 p.m. on July 6.

Someone stole a Schwinn mount for a light on the front of a bicycle from a bike storage rack on the 1300 block of Sherman between noon and 5 p.m. on July 7.

A locked Trek bicycle was stolen from a storage rack on the 700 block of Simpson Street between 4 p.m. July 3 and 2 p.m. July 7.

A cell phone case was stolen from an apartment in the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue between 10 a.m. and noon on July 3.

A cell phone case was stolen from an apartment in the 300 block of Custer at 6:30 p.m. on July 6.

Arson

A 2012 Nissan was set on fire in the 500 block of Michigan Avenue around 3:30 a.m. on July 6. Read Patch’s story on the incident here.

Residential burglary

An unknown person broke into a home in the 2100 block of Brummel Street around 4 p.m. on July 5 and stole three laptops and a bike.

A man stole an Apple laptop from a home in the 2200 block of Emerson by entering through an unlocked window between 12:30 p.m. July 4 and 12:30 a.m. July 5

Criminal defacement

Someone wrote graffiti on a residential garage in the 200 block of South Boulevard between 2 and 4 p.m. on July 5.

Someone wrote graffiti in the common area of an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Hinman Avenue between noon July 5 and noon July 6.

Burglary

Someone entered a residential garage through an unlocked door between noon July 5 and 10 a.m. July 6 and stole a Trek men’s bike.

A red Trek bicycle was stolen from an apartment storage locker in the 1200 block of Hull Terrace between June 22 and 9 a.m. and July 6 at 8:30 a.m.

Criminal damage to vehicle

Someone broke the rear window of a 1996 Toyota on the street in the 800 block of Greenleaf Street between 8 p.m. July 3 and 6 a.m. July 4.

Someone shattered the window of a 2004 Jeep with a rock in the street in the 1700 block of Oak Avenue between 9:30 p.m. on July 6 and 1 p.m. on July 7.

Retail theft

Takiah M. Dudley, 20, of Skokie, was arrested for retail theft on July 6.

Deshe L. Taylor, 22, of Evanston, was arrested for retail theft on July 6.

Burglary from motor vehicle

Someone broke the window on a 2004 Ford in an alley in the 1600 block of Central Street between 12:45 and 1 p.m. on July 6. Nothing was taken.

The lock was punched out on a 2003 Honda on the street in the 1000 block of Austin Street between June 11 and July 6.

Battery

Arturo Alicandro, 63, of Evanston was arrested for battery on July 4.

Thomas W. Travis, 28, of Evanston, was arrested for battery on July 6.

DUI

Jeremiah E. Rodriguez, 19, of Chicago, was arrested for DUI on July 4.

Aggravated assault

James G. Bowen, 52, of Evanston, was arrested for aggravated assault on July 2.

Disorderly conduct

Eric Dashion Clark, 20, of Evanston, was arrested for disorderly conduct on July 2.

Diedre D. McLaurin, 50, of Evanston, was arrested for disorderly conduct on July 1.

Simple battery

Mpoyi Mitondo, 26, of Evanston, was arrested for simple battery on July 2.

Tiara Pierre, 22, of Evanston, was arrested for simple battery on July 3.

David L. Williams, 55, was arrested for simple battery on July 6.

Underage drinking

Miranda A. Parker, 19, of Evanston, was arrested for underage drinking.

Reckless driving

Issace Dean-Eugene Taylor, 24, of Chicago, was arrested for reckless driving on July 3.

Cannabis

Michael L. Terrell, 31, of Des Plaines, was arrested for cannabis on July 4.

Criminal damage to property

Someone broke the window of an apartemtn in the 1000 block of Ashland around 11:45 p.m. on July 4.

John McIntyre, 20, of Evanston was arrested for criminal damage to property for urinating in the storage room on items for sale at a convenience store in the 800 block of Emerson Street on July 4, police said.

The front glass door of an apartment in the 500 block of Howard was broken between 3 and 4 p.m. on July 6.
