Blotter: Jewelry, Electronics Stolen in 3 Burglaries

Shots Fired on Monroe Street

Police investigated a report that someone had fired a gun in the 1700 block of Monroe Street between 10:40 and 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1. Nothing was found in the area, according to police.

Adam Jacob Tuft, 28, of the 700 block of Dobson Street, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in the 100 block of Chicago Avenue at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, police reported. 

Residential Burglaries on Oakton, Foster, Austin

A man entered a home in the 1700 block of Oakton Street through the unlocked back door between 11:50 a.m. and 2:23 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, according to police. He stole a black HP laptop computer, several pieces of jewelry, a black DVD player, a black LG Sabre cell phone, Nintendo DS video games, six leather jackets, a black Blu-ray player and two black watches. 

A man entered an unlocked garage in the 1100 block of Foster Street between 2 and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, and stole a black mountain bike, a box with shoes in it and a suitcase, according to police. 

A man and a woman entered an apartment in the 900 block of Austin Street through an unlocked kitchen window between 7:15 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, and stole a Nintendo Wii video game system and games, police reported.

Car Stolen From Dempster and Hartrey

Someone stole a red, two-door 2000 Pontiac Sunfire with a black top that was parked in a lot at Dempster and Hartrey Street at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, police reported.

Theft Under $500

A man stole three money orders for $87, $45 and $40 from the visor of a vehicle in the 1800 block of Dempster Avenue between 12 and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, according to police. 

Someone stole parts from a black 10-speed, 27-inch bicycle that was locked to a storage rack in the 600 block of South Boulevard between 6:43 and 6:55 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, according to police.

A man stole a black iPod Touch from a table at Elmwood Avenue and Greenleaf Street at 5:29 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, police reported.

A man grabbed an iPhone with a bright case from his victim at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the intersection of Noyes Street and Sherman Avenue, according to police.

Burglary From a Motor Vehicle

Someone stole cash, a car seat and miscellaneous papers from an unlocked 2005 Toyota parked in the 2100 block of Dobson Street between 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, and 4:25 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, police reported. 

Someone stole cash, a Garmin GPS unit and a Gerber 3-inch folding pocket knife from an unlocked 2003 Honda and 2007 Toyota that were parked in the 2700 block of Bernard Place between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, according to police.

A man damaged the window of a 2005 Chrysler parked in the 600 block of Hull Terrace and stole a GPS unit at 2:55 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, police reported.
