Blotter: Man Threatened to Belt Victim; Underage Drinking

Aggravated Assault

A man tried to hit another person with a belt in the 1500 block of Sherman Avenue around 3 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, according to police. 

Shots Fired/Man With a Gun

Police investigated a report that someone had fired a gun in the 1900 block of Lee Street between 1 and 3 a.m. Monday, July 5, police reported. Police could not find anything in the area. 

Police also investigated a report that a man had fired a gun at a gas station in the 2400 block of Dempster Street around 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, according to police. Officers could not find anything in the area.

Residential Burglary

Someone entered an apartment in the 100 block of Asbury Avenue during the night of Wednesday, July 4, through a living room window, according to police. It is unknown whether anything is missing. 

Commercial Burglary

Someone stole an air conditioner from an unlocked building in the 600 block of Chicago Avenue during the afternoon of Tuesday, July 3, according to police.

Burglary from a Motor Vehicle

Someone stole a bi-fold leather wallet with its contents and an Apple MP3 player from a car parked in the 1200 block of Leon Place on Tuesday, July 3, police reported. 

Theft Under $500

Someone stole a Schwinn bicycle with a missing right pedal that was locked to a bike rack in the 1600 block of Ridge Avenue between Sunday, July 1, and Tuesday, July 3, police reported. 

An Apple cell phone was stolen from a locked gym locker in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue during the afternoon of Tuesday, July 3, according to police. 

Someone stole a men’s Schwinn mountain bike from a locked apartment storage locker in the 1200 block of Harvard Terrace during the early morning of Wednesday, July 4, police reported. 

Retail Theft

A man stole various items from a food store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue around 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, police reported.

Possession of Alcohol by a Minor

Alexander Anthony Malecki, 18, of Evanston, was arrested and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor at 2 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, in the 1000 block of Ridge Avenue, according to police.

Possession of Cannabis

Adrian Jovan Campbell, 19, of Evanston, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis around 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, in the 100 block of Elmwood Avenue, according to police.   

Disobedience to a Police Oficer

David Anthony Roer, 26, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with disobedience to a police officer in the 1000 block of Central Street on Wednesday, July 4, according to police. 

Stolen Catalytic Converter

A catalytic converter was stolen from a 1998 Ford parked in the 1200 block of Hartrey Avenue during the night of Monday, July 2, according to police. 

Criminal Damage to Property

Graffiti was found in a park in the 200 block of McCormick Boulevard, according to police. 

Someone damaged a window of a home in the 2700 block of Colfax Street around 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, police reported.

A man damaged the door of a home in the 1700 block of Leland Avenue around 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, according to police.

Cletus Thomas Reed, 26, of Plainfield, was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property after he allegedly damaged the rear door of an apartment in the 100 block of Custer Avenue around noon Tuesday, July 3, police reported.
