Blotter: Police Officer Assaulted, 4 Burglaries

Assault of a Police Officer

A man allegedly assaulted a police officer in the 1700 block of Hovland Court at 1:29 a.m. Sunday, July 1, police reported.

Felton Larvell Cunningham, 22, of Evanston, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault at 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 29, in the 1600 block of Foster Street, police reported. 

Oscar Montoya, 32, of Evanston, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault at 1:29 a.m. Sunday, July 1, in the 1300 block of Darrow Avenue, police reported.

Battery

Two men struck another person in the face in the 1800 block of Maple Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Friday, June 29, according to police. 

A man and a woman person pushed another person in the chest around 6 p.m. Sunday, July 1, in the 800 block of Church Street, police reported. 

A man struck another person on the left ear in the 300 block of Custer Avenue around 2:53 a.m. Saturday, June 30, according to police.

Someone reported that another person hit them in the right knee while riding the bus in the 2000 block of Brown Avenue around 6:40 p.m. Saturday, June 30, according to police. 

Driving Under the Influence

Amy Almeta Alamgir, 23, of Chicago, was arrested in the 1900 block of Wesley Avenue and charged with driving under the influence at 8:27 p.m.  Sunday, July 1, police reported.

Disturbing the Peace

Luis Ocasio, 21, of Berwyn, was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace on Saturday, June 30, in the 1500 block of Dewey Avenue, according to police.

Possession of Cannabis

Issace Dean Taylor, 23, of Evanston, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis at 6:11 p.m. Saturday, June 30, in the 1800 block of Crain, police reported. 

Report of Shots Fired

Officers checked the intersection of Elmwood Avenue and Howard Street but found nothing around 4:20 p.m. Friday, June 29, while investigating a report that a man had fired a gun, according to police.

Officers also checked the 1900 block of Howard Street but found nothing while investigating a report of shots fired around 9:40 p.m. Saturday, June 30, according to police. 

Residential Burglary

A watch, jewelry, Fuji camera, Blu-Ray DVD player, Nook and other electronics as well as a Swiss knife were stolen from an unlocked apartment in the 400 block of Howard Street sometime between Wednesday, June 27, and Thursday, June 28, police reported.  

A Canon camera, 55” flat-screen Toshiba television, Apple tablet and other electronics were stolen from a home in the 1200 block of South Boulevard on Friday, June 29, according to police. The robber appears to have gained entry with a tool between 9:15 a.m. and 3:55 p.m., police reported. 

A man entered an apartment in the 1600 block of Ridge Avenue through an unlocked window during the afternoon of Saturday, June 30, and stole a black laptop computer, according to police. 

A Wii game system, video games, Sony camera and other electronics were stolen from a home in the 2400 block of Lee Street on Friday, June 29, police reported.

Criminal Damage to a Vehicle

Four men damaged the windows, windshields, headlights and hood of 1997 Honda parked in the 1400 block of Brummel Street around 11:15 p.m. Sunday, July 1, according to police.

Theft Over $500

A yellow men’s mountain bicycle was stolen from an unlocked apartment storage locker in the 900 block of Washington Street during the evening of Saturday, June 30, police reported. 

A tan racing bike, curved handlebars and a silver men’s Trek bike were stolen from an apartment storage locker in the 1200 block of Emerson Street during the night of Saturday, June 30, according to police. The thief appears to have used a tool to gain entry, police reported.
